Economic Justice Team – Two New Projects

Homelessness and affordable housing will be a significant focus for UUC’s Economic Justice Team this year.  Therefore, we are organizing opportunities to provide hands-on community service in support of two programs in the Lake City area.

Lake City Partners Ending Homeless (LCP) provides a winter shelter for 30 people experiencing homelessness each night from November through March.  Individuals and groups within the church are invited to provide meals and laundry service to support this shelter.  For more information, contact Cynthia Lim or Judy Oerkvitz

Habitat for Humanity recently broke ground on a project containing  16 town-homes for families with children.  Several members of our team attended the groundbreaking ceremony.  Watch for more information about volunteer opportunities with Habitat.

If you’d like to join the Economic Justice Team, contact Ben Pfeiffer and/or plan to attend our next meeting on Sunday, November 24, 11 am, in the Knatvold Room.
