Beth Herrild lives in Newcastle, Washington with her husband, David, and three children Jesse, Ashton, and Zoe. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1983 from The University of Wisconsin - Stout with a B.S. in Fine Arts. She spent 10 years in sales and marketing. In 1989, Milliken & Company won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Beth become very involved in Total Quality efforts. In 1991 she became manager of US West Cellular's Quality and Sales training as well as managing NewVector University, their internal training group. In 1993 she completed a Master of Arts in Whole Systems Design at Antioch University.

She left US West Cellular (then Verizon) in 2000 and with a business partner, started a firm doing writing, consulting and speaking. Their first book, Comfortable Chaos: Forget Balance and Make Career and Family Choices That Work for You, was published in 2005. They worked with companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Starbucks and Boeing on work/life balance issues as well as consulting with women re-entering the workforce after taking time off to be with children. In 2008 she had a contract with the Youth Suicide Prevention Program here in Seattle in addition to volunteer work with the Sanctuary Art Center doing art with street-involved teens and young adults and teaching art at her daughter's elementary school. She is also a free-lance writer for ParentMap Magazine.
