Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Bailey Jensen ventured off to Meadville, Pennsylvania, to attend Allegheny College. In 2010, after graduating with a B.A. in Women’s Studies and double minors in German and Religious Studies, she moved to Pittsburgh to intern with Planned Parenthood’s and Joe Sestak for Senate’s election campaigns. After election season ended, Bailey pursued her passion for urban agriculture. She moved to Portland, Oregon, where she started her own community garden and worked as Urban Garden Lead for the YWCA of Greater Portland’s Camp Westwind in the City.

During her first visit to Seattle, Bailey fell in love with the city. She moved to town in July 2011, immediately getting involved with local nonprofits, including Seattle Tilth in Wallingford, where she continues to volunteer. She completed her Master Gardener training and has become more involved in the gardening community in Seattle. In addition to gardening, Bailey loves crafting, running, and picnics. While she’d eventually like to return to school to earn a Master of Social Work degree, she is enjoying her new home and is excited to grow in her present position as Membership Assistant.
