UUC's many-faceted religious education program for children and youth is a cooperative venture that involves our families, volunteers, and staff. To help ensure a safe, positive, and smoothly-operating environment, please become familiar with important general information that follows on these topics:
Church school begins the second Sunday in September - this year on September 11th, 2011 - and ends on the last Sunday in May. September 11th is Homecoming Sunday and teacher dedication at both services; 9:30 and 11:15.
On summer Sundays (June through the first Sunday in September), we offer childcare for infants, preschool, and an activity program for elementary school children during our 10:00AM Sunday service.
Church school classes are based on a rich Unitarian Universalist curriculum. Children who attend on a regular weekly basis will benefit most. Please let your child’s teacher know if your child will be away for an extended period due to illness or other reason.
New students may register at any time. Church school programs are open to those who are not members of UUC. However, we encourage families to consider membership in our community.
Fees for tuition and church school supplies are based on the number of children enrolled, and whether or not the family are members or pledging friends at UUC. Scholarships are available.
To register or for more information, please use our on-line registration form. You may also e-mail the Director of Lifespan Faith Development, Beth Herrild, or call 206-525-8400, ext. 13.
Children are welcome to join a class at any time during the school year. We ask that visitors check in at the church school office before going to class. Children may visit church school classes three times before formal registration is required.
The safety and welfare of our children at UUC is foremost in our minds at all times.
Occasional field trips or other special activities supplement classroom learning, and are planned in advance. Written parental permission is required. Drivers must provide a seat belt for each child.
Our church school library includes a wide range of materials for children, teaching staff, and parents. You may check out books on Sunday mornings during the church school year.
Teachers supervise children on the playground during the church school session. Children using the playground before or after church must be supervised by their parents or designated adults. The playground is for children from age 3½ years through grade four.
