Purpose and Curriculum

In a safe, caring, and structured environment, we aim to:

We provide our children with the opportunity to explore a variety of ideas during their years at UUC – from Unitarian Universalism and our Judeo-Christian heritage to world religions and social justice. Through social service projects, we help them gain an understanding of the diverse needs, abilities, faiths, and challenges of both the local and global communities.

Thoughtfully designed to match the ages and developmental stages of our children, our programs encompass:

Worship Opportunities for Our Children and Youth

Throughout the church school year, worship activities deepen the learning and exploration experience for all our children.

On the third Sunday of each month, children and youth join their parents for worship in the chapel, leaving for their classes before the sermon begins.

For preschoolers through sixth-graders, special monthly services include chalice lighting, songs, a story, and meditation. Preschool through first-grade classes meet for their own ten-minute service in the Channing Room. Second-grade through sixth-grade classes meet for a 15-minute service in the Knatvold Room.

Seventh-grade through high school youth begin each Sunday's class with their own worship service.

A music service, usually in March, features selected readings and beautiful music. Any child or youth may participate in this special service.
