Thank you for the hot dogs

Thank you for the hot dogs.

I say this not just for myself, a fan of most tube-shaped meat, but also for the men and women at Tent City 3. In November, a couple other young adults from UUC and I made a meal of hot dogs, corn, beans, and homemade brownies for the people staying at Tent City 3, which offers temporary shelter for homeless people at rotating locations around Seattle. Hot dogs were our second attempt at a perfect meal—our spaghetti marinara meal in August did get prepared and eaten, but it also left its mark of tomato sauce on a hallway carpet. The hot dogs were a little less ambitious, yet still delicious, and cooking enough to feed 80 people is tricky in a two-bedroom apartment. The meal was greatly enjoyed at Tent City 3, then at Riverton United Methodist Church in Tukwila. So, again, thank you so much for the hot dogs. - from Brad Iverson-Long

In December the Young Adults group of UUC put on a Soulful Sundown, or evening service, in the chapel. We celebrated the season of Winter: the hidden life that exists below the surface of the earth and the scarce, but treasured, light that shines during this season. Musical, oratorical, and multimedia talent was harnessed from the group to create a fully participatory service. It is wonderful to unite a community and show that our generation is ready and willing to get involved. I would do this again in a heartbeat! - from Patrick Dodd

Trivia Night on Mondays at Kate’s Pub in Wallingford brings the UUC Young Adults together every week for fun and fellowship. It’s a way for young adults to connect outside of Sunday services and enjoy each other’s company. As members of the UUC Young Adults expressed interest in weekly gatherings, we decided quiz night would be an excellent way to continue fellowship during the week. I am pleased to be able to serve as an informal coordinator for this weekly event, and I hope to continue to provide assistance and leadership where it will be most useful to further developing friendships and community bonds. And it is always fun when our team wins, too! - from Katie Bishop
