Newcomers arrive at University Unitarian through different doors and under different circumstances. For those who decide to pursue membership in this congregation, there are four steps.
Whether you are entirely new to this faith or transferring from another Unitarian Universalist church, we want you to have a basic grounding in:
We offer two different classes regarding membership at UUC. Learn more about these classes. You will find the sessions rich with information and opportunities to connect with other newcomers and prospective members, as well as active members at UUC. Whichever you attend, you will meet members of the Membership Exploration and Integration team (MEI team), who take great joy in this ministry at UUC.
The MEI team wants to celebrate your decision and offer any guidance or support you might need through this process. Tell us of your decision in person after a membership class, in an e-mail to the MEI team, or by calling the church office at 206-525-8400, ext. 11.
Membership enrollment packets are available at the membership classes, through the MEI Team, or in the church office. These packets include all the forms you’ll need. When you’re finished, return the forms to the church office.
Twice yearly, we welcome new members at an in-gathering ceremony during Sunday services, followed by a festive reception. You will receive an invitation and further information in advance of your in-gathering. At the reception, you may sign the membership book. Alternative arrangements are available if you are not able to participate in this ceremony.
The congregation extends a warm welcome to those who take the step of becoming a member of our community! We look forward to knowing you as we share the journey of spiritual awakening and transformation that will inspire us to give back to the UUC community and the larger world around us.
Let us know how we can help you find your place and feel connected.
