Newcomers arrive at University Unitarian through different doors and under different circumstances. For those who decide to pursue membership in this congregation, there are four steps.

Step 1: Attend One of Our Membership Information Forums.

Whether you are entirely new to this faith or transferring from another Unitarian Universalist church, we want you to have a basic grounding in:

• Unitarian Universalism - its principles, purposes, history, and traditions
• University Unitarian Church – its history, priorities, programs, and community
• What it means to be a member – the joys and responsibilities of such a commitment

We offer membership information forums to our prospective members. membership at UUC. You will find the forums rich with information and opportunities to connect with other newcomers and prospective members, as well as active members at UUC. You will meet our ministers and program staff, learn about Unitarian Universalism and our church community here at UUC. 

Step 2: Tell Us You Intend to Join UUC.

The MEI team wants to celebrate your decision and offer any guidance or support you might need through this process. Tell us of your decision in person after a membership forum, in an e-mail to the Membership Team, or by calling the church office at 206-525-8400, ext. 11.

Step 3: Submit Membership Forms and Financial Pledge.

Membership enrollment packets are available at the membership classes. These packets include all the forms you’ll need. When you’re finished, return the forms to the church office.

• The membership questionnaire helps us to get to know you and your background, interests, and needs, and also gives us your basic contact data. We also ask for a brief personal profile to be used as your introduction to the congregation.
• The UUC pledge intent form is the record of your financial commitment to UUC. To support the programs, operations, and work of the congregation, we expect all members to make a financial gift to the church every year. For information, read more.

Step 4: Attend In-Gathering and Sign the Membership Book.

Twice yearly, we welcome new members at an in-gathering ceremony during Sunday services, followed by a festive reception. You will receive an invitation and further information in advance of your in-gathering. At the reception, you may sign the membership book. Alternative arrangements are available if you are not able to participate in this ceremony.
