UUC members concerned about the impact of current public policies on immigrant workers and their families have formed REACH for Immigrant Justice — Responding through Education, Advocacy, Compassion, and Hospitality. This social justice ministry provides opportunities to learn about the difficulties facing immigrants in our society today, and to build connections with immigrants and groups working on immigrant justice issues.
REACH for Immigrant Justice helps the UUC congregation to educate themselves and others in the community about issues facing immigrants, and invites and welcomes their first-hand stories. Immigration is a complex issue, and we recognize that many tensions and questions exist around the topic. This group seeks to create a safe and open setting for people to share their stories and struggles with current US immigration policy. We promote dialogue and opportunities to act on solutions grounded in Unitarian Universalist values.
UUC's immigrant justice group is working with the New Sanctuary Movement and the Sound Alliance, as well as other faith communities that are concerned with immigrant justice.
