The Sunday, January 29th “teach-in” on the economic mess was a packed house! Clearly, this topic touches a nerve. If you missed it, we have a web page up with a video of the event, links to the other videos that we watched, and downloadable versions of the charts. If you were there on Sunday, and the packed house made it hard for you to see or hear – well, this is for you too! Our next step is a an action lab this Saturday, February 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is a complex, entangled mess of problems, but together perhaps we can discern action for the common good.

February brings a
favorite art exhibit back to UUC: the
Zimbabwe Artists Project. Women in
rural Weya in Eastern Zimbabwe become more economically self-sufficient through
the sale of their artwork. ZAP supports
the artists with training workshops and health care assistance. The art tells the stories of the artists's
daily lives, recent local history, and popular folktales. There are colorful scenes of animals,
landscapes, and ancient customs, most rendered in fabric applique and
embroidery. Each piece of art comes
with a story written by the artist, a biography, and a photograph. This show is called “Making Human

The Seed Tillers is a book discussion group seeking to explore other faith traditions in relationship to our Unitarian Universalist tradition. The first reading will be The History of God by Karen Armstrong. Each month, we will focus on one of eleven chapters. Each participant is encouraged to introduce other resources relevant to each chapter. The class is open to anyone willing to read, reflect upon, and discuss the religious history and ideas in Armstrong's book. As Unitarians, we draw inspiration from many sources. This class seeks to encourage better understanding of the world's religions as inspiration for our own ethical and spiritual life. The invitation of this class also extends to those who, along with Armstrong, raise the question, "Does God have a future?" and want to explore new ways of what theologian Paul Tillich called the "Ground of Being." Sessions: 11 Tuesdays. 3rd Tuesday of every month

Coming Together to Explore White Privilege Using film clips, short readings, and a variety of activities, we will examine white privilege – the rights, advantages, and immunities that whites enjoy beyond the common advantage of others. Those who benefit from white privilege do not necessarily hold racist beliefs and may be unaware of their privilege. Participants will explore how to take on problems arising from issues of power, identity, and institutional racism. All interested UUC members and friends are welcome to participate. 4 Sessions: Tuesdays, February 28th , March 6th , 13th, and 27th Time: 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Room: Frazee Fee: Pledging $15.00/Non-pledging $20.00
