Human rights activist Peter Lippman will speak on Wednesday April 14 at 7 pm about the story of Srebrenica and the survivors' struggle for survival, recovery, and dignity.
Towards the end of the 1992-1995 Bosnian war, over eight thousand
Muslim men and boys were rounded up and
massacred in Srebrenica. The atrocity left thousands of women without a home, struggling to support families and recover from the trauma. Some of these women founded Bosfam, a self-help organization and crafts cooperative, where they create and market clothing and handicrafts, including the traditional “kilim” carpet.
Bosfam is weaving a Srebrenica Memorial Quilt to commemorate the 1995 massacre, made up of small kilim panels stitched together, each bearing the name of a lost loved-one.

UU SERVICE COMMITTEE SUNDAY
Join us on April 19 for a presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Phelan on Fall Preventions. Dr. Phelan is a geriatrician and her sobering research on falls indicates that more accidental deaths in the elderly
occur from falls than from auto accidents. We meet at 11 am and have lunch at noon. Please sign up in the office.
Senior Focus is a monthly program (September-June) that nourishes our brains with a speaker for one hour, and our bodies with a buffet lunch afterward. We usually meet on the third Monday of the month.
