Are you struggling to cope with the recent or past loss of a loved one? This support group will provide a comforting environment in which you may explore your feelings safely, gain information on the grieving process and know that you are not alone in the experience of loss.
Six sessions on Thursday afternoons.
The facilitator is Barbara Alexander, MA, LMHC, a psychotherapist in private practice with a particulare interest in supporting people through their grief journey. For more information, or to sign up, Contact Barbara Alexander
Barbara is a longtime member of UUC and cho-chair of the UUCare Team for the past two years.Rev. Alicia Grace will be speaking, with music by the Loft Choir. Two services at 9:30am and 11:15am.
There will be a special congregational meeting following the second service to call the Rev. Linda P. Kaufman as Minister Affiliated.
This class is offered as part of UUC's Adult Religious Exploration (ARE) program.
We will explore the ideas of David Korten's newest book The Great Turning: from Empire to Earth Community. If you haven't read the book, you can prepare for the class by downloading David Korten's article of the same name from the Summer 2006 edition of YES! A Journal of Positive Futures.

April 13, 2008 at 3:00PM, University Unitarian Church will present an afternoon of Spanish and German Songs of Love and Loss with mezzo-soprano Heidi Vanderford and guitarist Daniel Corr. Music by Brahms, Falla, Granados, Sor and Giuliani will be performed. This recital represents the Vanderford-Corr Duo’s Northwest debut.
A reception in NJ Hall will follow the recital.

A celebration of Melanie Shelton's leadership of our Youth Abroad Program, with speakers from the youth who went to Guatemala with her last summer. Two services at 9:30am and 11:15am.
We will have a special reception for Melanie between services.
Our speaker is Rob Thompson, M.D. For the last 15 years, Dr. Thompson has been involved with changing government policy as it pertains to illegal drugs, especially hard drugs. He will share how he got involved, in hopes we will get involved too.

"Why Not Humanism?"
In 2007, Joyce Carol Oates, prolific writer and Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Princeton, was chosen Humanist of the Year of the American Humanist Association. When accepting the award, she asked, "Why is humanism not the preeminent belief of humankind?"
Jim Corbett, longtime humanist and active member of Humanists of North Puget Sound, proposes a thoughtful answer to her question.

Today: Torah and the Wild
This is a journey, by way of slides, to some of our speaker's favorite wild places in Washington. It is also a journey in the Torah of his Jewish tradition, and of other holy texts.
Barak Gale is a faith-based environmental activist, focusing on wilderness and climate changes issues. He serves as Vice-President of the Board of the Washington Wilderness Coalition.
Franz Schubert's "Mass in G Major" for choir, soloists and orchestra at the 9:30 and 11:15 am services. Arrive early for a good seat!
On the first Sunday of each month, meet the artists whose work will be hangng in the Chapel and the Narthex that month. All artwork is for sale, and a portion of each sale benefits UUC.
Come one, come all to a reception for our May artists on Sunday, May
4 from 5 to 7 pm. Ellen Rutledge uses a variety of print techniques,
including dry point, photo etch, mezzotint and chine colle. Images
of texts, maps and original drawings showcase the beauty of common
objects. Lin La Mer’s still life paintings use the color turquoise
to bring forth a warm and comforting past and a bright, cheerful
future. Refreshments will be served. Artwork is for sale; a portion
of each sale benefits the church.
In this evening workshop, we will practice the art and skill of being where we are. Using silent and guided meditaion and exercises we will explore tools that help us slow down and pat attention to what is already here in and around us. As we become more present, we find that this moment becomes a doorway into dimensions of richness which may surprise, inform or enliven us.
Presented by David Rynick and Tamara Scarlett-Lyon. David is a certified life coach, leadership consultant and Zen teacher. Tamara is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Registered Counselor in Seattle.
