Are you struggling to cope with the recent or past loss of a loved one? This support group will provide a comforting environment in which you may explore your feelings safely, gain information on the grieving process and know that you are not alone in the experience of loss.

Six sessions on Thursday afternoons.

The facilitator is Barbara Alexander, MA, LMHC, a psychotherapist in private practice with a particulare interest in supporting people through their grief journey. For more information, or to sign up, Contact Barbara Alexander

 Today:  Getting Around Green: Why it Matters

Morgan Ahouse, from the transportation component of the Sierra Club's Cool State Campaign, will discuss why individual travel choices make a difference, as well as larger efforts in our region to encourage actions to reduce greenhouse gases, such as Washington State's Climate Plan and the Western Governor's initiative.

April 13, 2008 at 3:00PM, University Unitarian Church will present an afternoon of Spanish and German Songs of Love and Loss with mezzo-soprano Heidi Vanderford and guitarist Daniel Corr. Music by Brahms, Falla, Granados, Sor and Giuliani will be performed. This recital represents the Vanderford-Corr Duo’s Northwest debut.

 A reception in NJ Hall will follow the recital. 

Brown Paper Tickets is selling tickets for this event with a small service fee.

Our speaker is Rob Thompson, M.D. For the last 15 years, Dr. Thompson has been involved with changing government policy as it pertains to illegal drugs, especially hard drugs. He will share how he got involved, in hopes we will get involved too.

"Why Not Humanism?"

In 2007, Joyce Carol Oates, prolific writer and Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Princeton, was chosen Humanist of the Year of the American Humanist Association. When accepting the award, she asked, "Why is humanism not the preeminent belief of humankind?"

Jim Corbett, longtime humanist and active member of Humanists of North Puget Sound, proposes a thoughtful answer to her question.
