The collective efforts and active participation of families, other UUC volunteers, and program staff are at the heart of all of our classes and activities for children and youth. We rely on their energy, talent, and commitment. In turn, this is a rewarding, significant, and joyful way in which to be involved in this community — putting your faith into action.
Join us in fulfilling our mission of promoting and celebrating Unitarian Universalist religious identity and personal spiritual growth for our children. We invite and welcome your participation in a number of ways. E-mail Sue Williams, the director of religious education, if you are interested in any of the following opportunities, or would like more information. She can also be reached by phone at 206-525-8400, ext.13.
Our volunteer teachers are committed, energetic, and positive models for our children and youth. They share a common interest in children and a commitment to guiding their education and spiritual discovery, with Unitarian Universalist curriculum as the prime resource. Teachers attend training sessions and then work in teams every Sunday throughout the church school year. We have teachers who return year after year, and also opportunities for new people to be involved as classroom teachers or substitutes.
This committee guides, supports, and assists the UUC’s program for children and youth and all its activities. Meetings are monthly on the third Wednesday at 6:30PM. Contact Janet Kimball, CYP committee chair, for more information.
Parents of children enrolled in the church school are expected to contribute their time and talent in some way. Others are also welcome – and needed! Here are examples of non-teaching volunteer opportunities:
