In the fall of 2008, Sr. Minister Jon Luopa will lead our pilgrimage to Transylvania, September 23 to October 5, 2008.
Walking to the church in Alsorakos (2007)
The itinerary includes:
- Kolozsvár, site of Francis David’s ministry and today the headquarters of the Transylvanian Unitarian Church
- Torda, where the first act of religious tolerance was signed in 1568
- Szekelyderzs, the frescoed Unitarian church that is a UNESCO World Heritage site
- Gyulaferhervar, where a 1000 year-old church shelters the remains of the Unitarian King, John Sigismund
- Meszko, the “Alabaster Village” made famous by the book of the same name
- Deva, the ruins of the prison where Francis David died
- Historic Saxon walled cities of Segesvar and Biertan
The group will spend three nights with our partners in Alsorakos during their Thanksgiving weekend, a major event in their church calendar. The trip concludes in Budapest, Hungary, where travelers can rest before their return flight or extend their European travels.
