UUC's Social Justice Steering Committee is pleased to announce the Seeds of Justice Grant Program, through which UUC will award grants to social justice nonprofits working or based in our community. The Seeds of Justice Grant Program is our first grantmaking endeavor, and the
goals of the program are:
We kicked off the program in 2010, and began our first partnerships in in 2011, awarding two $10,000 grants. In this first year, we seek to engage our congregation, learn from the experience, and set a foundation that can grow.
In designing the program, the Steering Committee looked at UUC's history and listened to our congregation. The committee decided to build on UUC’s long history of advancing justice for people whose voices, needs and rights are invisible or dismissed in society. In 2010 our priorities were organizations working for justice, equity and compassion in one of the following areas:
