The Soul Work Anti-Racism Group's mission is to transform ourselves and our church community by developing an anti-racist identity, expressed through education, outreach and action.
In our efforts to overcome personal and dismantle systemic racism, we engage in “soul work” that is crucial to our individual, denominational and societal evolution in an ever more closely linked and multicultural world.
The Group meets monthly, typically the first Sunday of the month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, to discuss readings on the topic, and plan further education and action to fulfill our goals and mission.
We sponsor an ARE class each season. The initial class that instigated the group was called “Soul Work – Unitarian Perspectives on Race” based on the book "Soul Work: Anti-Racist Theologies in Dialogue." Please look at the ARE class schedule to see what is currently available and/or contact our co-chairs to see how you can get involved. The co-chairs are James Shillaber and Betty Williams.
