The concert will feature both DNGC and the Northwest Girlchoir, and combined pieces will also be presented. Deepening the already existing cross-cultural friendship between Denmark and North America is high on the singers' agenda.

The outstanding Danish National Girls Choir, under the Direction of Michael Bojesen, is touring the Northwest region and southern British Columbia from August 3-12, 2008. The choir has also been invited to perform at the exciting Festival Vancouver. Principal conductor, Michael Bojesen, has devised an exquisite choral program for the tour, including Nordic choral music by number of well renowned Danish composers, some based on the timeless beauty of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytales, as well as his own compositions, ex. the brand new "Plant a tree".

"Music is never static, it's vibrant and always changing," says Anne Karine Prip, manager of DNGC, "[it] is an international language that speaks to the hearts of the world - across nationalities and languages."

"When planning a tour like this you must be true to the music but also paying attention to the choristers as a whole people, to get the best balance and harmony. The girls love meeting families and choristers from abroad and having fun. Singing is about emotion, joy and expression!"
