Music Program

University Unitarian offers a rich music program with opportunities for singers and instrumentalists. Music is a vital part of our worship and church activities.

The music for the worship services varies throughout the year, with programs featuring our three choirs, vocal and instrumental soloists, and compositions ranging from classical to world music.

Twice yearly, we celebrate UUC Music Sunday, a concert-style service featuring major choral works with orchestra. Past Music Sunday services have included J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Magnificat, and Christmas Oratorio; Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor; Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem; Amy Beach’s Mass in E Minor; Fauré’s Requiem; and Britten’s St. Nicholas. These well attended programs are favorites of the congregation and the community.

Upcoming Music

Music from the Loft Choir

June 6 - the Loft Choir will sing "Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?, the awesome and energizing arrangement by Moses Hogan of the traditional spiritual.

Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel,
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel?
Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel?
And why not a-every man?

He delivered Daniel from the lion's den
Jonah from the belly of the whale
And the Hebrew children from the fiery furnace
And why not every man?

The wind blows east and the wind blows west,
It blows like the judgment day.
And every poor soul that never did pray
Will be glad to pray that day.

I set my foot on the Gospel ship,
And the ship, it begin to sail.
It landed me over on Canaan’s shore,
And I’ll never come back anymore.
