Minister’s Message from Jon

Dear Members and Friends:

Rev. Jon M. Luopa

Well, it’s not quite the end of summer, even if it seems so. But we can see it from here. In this turning point between seasons I usually find myself vacillating between savoring summer memories and ready anticipation of things to come. This is more the case for me this year for many good reasons.

Annie and I have cherished the gift of a summer free from most of my church responsibilities. This has allowed us to, among many things, enjoy Lake Chelan in July and two wonderful weeks with extended family on the Maine coast earlier this month. I have finally made a serious dent in a pile of books long awaiting my attention. And completing a few overdue household projects has allowed me to, as my father used to affectionately tease, save the marriage.

While we start the church year still at the Meadowbrook Community Center, we are getting closer to the time when we will move back into our new campus. Like you, I cannot wait! We hope to move back by early November, hopefully a little earlier. Stay tuned.

We thought it best to get used to the new space before officially dedicating it. I am delighted to tell you that our UUA President, the Rev. Susan Frederick-Grey, will be with us for that celebratory dedication weekend of March 20-22, 2020. All of this marks the successful completion of our strategic plan, Not For Ourselves Alone. Thank you!

I have missed you this summer but look forward to greeting you as we begin another new year together.

Warmly,

We are glad that you have had some personal renewal and look forward to seeing you again. There is, as they say, a lot of pent-up (Jon) demand. Cheers!
