October 14 Dedicated Plate to Front and Centered
On the second Sunday of each month our Sunday morning plate collection goes to a social justice cause.
On October 14, we will be receiving the offering in support of Front and Centered, a statewide coalition of more than 60 organizations and groups rooted in communities of color and people with lower incomes. The coalition is on the front lines of economic and environmental change. Front and Centered operates with the knowledge that organizations that are led and based in communities have the grassroots relationships, knowledge and expertise to create change. As thought-leaders and organizers, they build their agenda and strength with their grassroots community. As a coalition, they reach hundreds of thousands of families and individuals.
Front and Centered is committed to building power and capacity for a Just Transition that centers equity and is led by people of color. The coalition builds and amplifies a more powerful movement by engaging and bringing leaders together, building capacity; and providing coordination and technical support. Their collective strategy includes: Partnership building and collaboration; Policy research, writing and advocacy; Grassroots and voter education and mobilization; Fund development; Communications and storytelling.
UUC’s Climate Action Team nominated this organization to receive the second Sunday plate to support their general efforts in intersectional community organizing and specifically their efforts in the creation and advancing of Initiative 1631 as an important partner within the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy.
