For those who wish to delve deeper into an understanding of in understanding bias, whiteness, and racism, sign up for a “Breaking White Silence” book group.
The Phinney Neighborhood Association has been hosting Breaking White Silence Book Groups in hopes to create antibias consciousness-raising groups in our community. Two groups will be coming to UUC this spring! Using Dr. Robin DiAngelo’s book, What Does It Mean to be White: Developing White Racial Literacy to encourage personal reflection and conversation, this study group is a step to open up conversations about whiteness, white privilege, and racism. This group is open to members of the public and University Unitarian Church and led by facilitator, Chava Monastersky.
The study groups are geared to adults of all ages. Although all are encouraged to purchase the book, there are some available to borrow.
Monday Afternoon, 1:00 – 3:00 pm: March 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
