MLK Day of Service with Nature Consortium
It’s time to sign up for the MLK Day of Service Activity with our Seeds of Justice Partner, Nature Consortium! This is an outdoor activity where we work to restore the natural environment in Seattle. Youth and families are encouraged to attend this fun way to celebrate MLK Day. Be prepared for some hard work that could include mulching, raking, removing invasive species and planting new ones. If you are interested in attending, please contact Sarah Fredrick. Carpooling to the work site will be organized once attendees sign up.
Date: Monday, January 15
Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Location: Pigeon Point Park (1901 SW Genesee St, Seattle WA 98106)
Volunteer Activities: Improve habitat in the Duwamish River watershed. You and your fellow volunteers will participate in fun, hands-on conservation work led by Nature Consortium program staff in the West Duwamish Greenbelt. As part of our 2018 MLK Day Event, work may include removing invasive plants, planting native species, and mulching new plantings. This day will be accompanied by live musicians, bringing the arts and nature together for our enjoyment! We will also provide pizza at the end to celebrate everyone’s hard work.
