Support families separated by ICE raid in Whatcom County

Last Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained 28 individuals during a raid associated with their employment by Granite Precast in Whatcom County. Most of these individuals have been transferred to the NW Detention Center in Tacoma. Many families in Whatcom County lack means to connect with their loved ones who have been detained, have lost their primary source of income, and are fearful that basic activities like going to work or school could result in detention for them as well.

Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, in partnership with Community 2 Community, is raising funds to support the families of those detained by ICE. Our Second Sunday Social Justice Plate Collection on this Sunday (September 9) will be donated to this effort.

UUC’s Immigrant Justice group encourages congregants to stand in solidarity with the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship to support these families.
