All in the Family

Silas Amiri Crawford arrived Tuesday morning, measuring 8 lb. 7 oz. and 19 in. After a brief stint in the NICU to help clear his lungs and acclimate him to breathing beyond the womb, we are thrilled to be holding him and relieved that by all indications he’s healthy.

As for his name, it speaks both to his origin and to our hopes for his future:

* Silas means “of the forest,” and is a nod to the abundant Northwest woods where our family enjoys communing with nature and quality time with good friends.

* Amiri means “princely,” and reflects our desire that he be a noble world citizen–honorable and bold in his pursuits.

But for now of course, Silas has proven most passionate about naps, cozy cuddling, gentle caresses and milk. Big sister, Ruby, relates and it’s heartwarming to see her so attuned to him.

We’re grateful for this special time together, and for your interest and support. We look forward to introducing Silas to you and send our best in the meantime.

Warmest regards,
Byron and Jasmine Crawford
