UUC’s Version of StoryCorps® is Launching Soon!

Are you a fan of NPR’s StoryCorps broadcasts – recordings of ordinary people from across the U.S. telling the stories of their lives? Have you ever considered sharing a story from your own life? Well, now is your chance!

In celebration of the Not for Ourselves Alone celebration and campaign, UUC will be launching its own version of StoryCorps, with the goal of capturing and preserving stories across the generations about UUC and its impact on us – the members of this beloved church.

Do you have a special memory of UUC that you’d like to share? We invite you to participate! The stories we collect will be shared on the UUC website and at special events. These stories will also be saved for future generations, so they can be heard and cherished for years to come.

Kathy Englert, UUC member and personal historian has kindly offered her expertise to our project. Starting on December 3rd, you will have the opportunity to sit down with Kathy and share YOUR STORY! Through June, there will be at least one Sunday each month that our StoryCorps booth is available. Kathy will be recording stories after first service through the end of coffee hour after second service.

To participate and share your story, please sign up at the Not for Ourselves Alone campaign table or at any of our upcoming events, including the celebration on November 11th, where you can talk with Kathy and learn more about the StoryCorps project.

Pick up the StoryCorps Question List in NJH. Then, to tell your story:

• Be prepared to answer one of the prompts with a story that lasts ten minutes or less.
• Arrive at Howe classroom five minutes in advance of your sign-up time.
• Sit down with Kathy and tell your story!

We encourage you to participate and share your special UUC memories. These stories are priceless treasures!

Join us in Howe at 4:30 p.m. November 11, 2017.
